Recently, Professor Yang Yongqiang, Chief Scientist of Kings 3D, and his additive manufacturing team at South China University of Technology, jointly published a research article titled 'In-situ additive manufacturing of high strength yet ductility titanium composites with gradient layered structure using N2' in the SCI journal 'International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing' (IJEM, 2023 JCR Impact Factor 14.7, ranking first in the field of engineering/manufacturing). The paper, with Kings 3D translated as 'Kings 3D,' explores the use of additive manufacturing to transform traditional homogeneous materials, achieving printing performance comparable to TC4 alloy with pure titanium. The first author of the paper is doctoral student Xiao Yunmian from the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering at South China University of Technology, and Associate Professor Song Changhui is the corresponding author.

About Professor Yang YongQiang

Yang Yongqiang, Chief Scientist of Kings 3D Group, is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, South China University of Technology. Currently, he serves as the Executive Director of the Additive Manufacturing Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, President of the Guangdong Additive Manufacturing Association, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Laser and Additive Manufacturing Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Guangdong Laser Society, among other roles.
He has conducted extensive research in additive manufacturing (3D printing) and laser materials processing. Notably, he successfully developed the first domestic laser selective melting (SLM) additive manufacturing equipment. Subsequently, he has continuously worked on the Kings Dimetal series of laser selective melting metal 3D printing devices, and the related achievements have been industrialized and applied in various industries. Professor Yang has published over 300 academic papers and authored 8 monographs. He holds more than 360 patent applications, with 65 granted invention patents and over 160 granted utility model patents.

In recent years, under the guidance of Professor Yang Yongqiang, Kings 3D Group and South China University of Technology have continuously strengthened their collaboration in the integration of industry, academia, research, and application. They have jointly established projects such as the 'Kings 3D - South China University of Technology Additive Manufacturing Joint Laboratory' and the 'Guangdong Province Graduate Student Cultivation Demonstration Base.' Additionally, the Kings Additive Manufacturing Research Institute has been established, with Professor Yang Yongqiang serving as the institute's director.
