For decades, urban sculptures have relied on traditional casting or fiberglass molding—techniques that are mature yet limited. As cities pursue larger, more complex, and environmentally friendly designs, these conventional processes are showing their age: slow production, long cycles, and poor precision.
With the rise of digital manufacturing, 3D printing is emerging as a transformative alternative. It overcomes traditional design and structural constraints, enhances production efficiency, and supports sustainable practices—making it the future of landmark construction.

The shift toward 3D printing is no longer confined to small artworks. Large-scale city landmark projects are now embracing additive manufacturing in full force. A prime example is the Deyang City Gateway Landmark Project, where Chongqing Kings —a subsidiary of Kings 3D Group—played a central role in the design and fabrication of several key installations.
On September 29, Deyang officially inaugurated the “China Equipment Technology City Gateway Corridor”, marking the completion of one of the city's 2025 key infrastructure projects. The corridor, now fully open to traffic, stands as a new technological and aesthetic landmark for the city.
As a major project in Deyang’s Economic and Technological Development Zone, Chongqing Kings leveraged its advanced 3D printing expertise to build China’s largest 3D-printed urban landmark cluster, helping Deyang brand itself as a “City of Intelligent Manufacturing.”
Spanning 180,000 square meters, the Gateway Corridor blends nature, ecology, and industry into a seamless narrative. Thirteen major landmark nodes are distributed along the route—including city logos, cultural sculptures, and industrial installations.
Among them, a 12-meter-wide “D” sculpture, representing Deyang’s initial letter, forms the city’s visual gateway. Its dynamic design integrates surrounding topography and greenery, symbolizing Deyang’s strength and vitality.
Further along, a 10-meter-high 3D-printed rendition of the Sanxingdui Sun Wheel captures the essence of ancient Shu civilization. Using metal-like copper finishing and built-in LED systems, it offers contrasting visual effects—solid and monumental by day, yet luminous and ethereal by night.
Deeper into the corridor, visitors encounter full-scale replicas of national heavy-industry equipment, such as:
Nuclear turbine rotors by China National Machinery,
Heavy-duty G50 gas turbines,
10MW offshore wind turbines, and
Disk-rod rotors by Dongfang Turbine Co.
All were produced using Kings 3D’s high-precision additive manufacturing technology, achieving micron-level detail and demonstrating Deyang’s industrial heritage.
The project utilized Kings 3D's proprietary industrial-grade large-format printers, including the FGF1800pro pellet extrusion system and FDM1000 filament printer. Through a combination of digital modeling, modular printing, rapid assembly, and high-strength composite materials, Chongqing Kings achieved remarkable efficiency.

Each sculpture’s main structure was printed using reinforced ABS, internally supported by steel frames and filled with low-pressure polyurethane foam for lightweight strength—the result: visually stunning, structurally stable installations with rapid on-site assembly.
According to Chongqing Kings, the first six major sculptures were completed and installed within just 30–40 days, with zero delays and consistent quality. This performance sets a new benchmark for efficiency in large-scale 3D-printed urban projects.
Over the past decade, Kings 3D has become a leading force in large-format additive manufacturing, excelling in structural optimization, rapid delivery, and digital craftsmanship.
From cultural landmarks to science-themed installations, the company's work continues to expand across China:
In Enshi’s Daughter City, Kings 3D created massive 3D-printed sculptures and scenic installations that seamlessly integrated into cultural tourism sites.
In Bengbu Science City, the company built a cluster of over 50 rocket models, each up to 18 meters tall, forming an immersive space for science education and innovation.

The future of 3D-printed cultural and creative sculptures is bright. With years of technical expertise and successful case studies, Kings 3D continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible—turning imagination into tangible landmarks.
As the company puts it, their mission is to “reshape urban storytelling through 3D printing—so that every city can have its own technological signature.”
Step by step, that vision is becoming reality.
Founded in 2020 and located in the Chongqing Yubei Airport Industrial Park, Chongqing Kings Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kings 3D Group. The company specializes in metal and non-metal 3D printing, offering one-stop small-batch customized manufacturing solutions including equipment, materials, and services.
With a 15,000 m² facility, nearly 200 professionals, and hundreds of advanced machines covering 3D printing, CNC machining, sheet metal, rapid molds, vacuum casting, coating, and laser engraving, Chongqing Kings is committed to its mission:
