As industrial 3D printing continues to evolve, manufacturers need solutions that combine printing efficiency, operational stability, and reliable part quality. To address these demands, Kings 3D has introduced two upgraded FDM 3D printers: the FDM 1000Pro and FDM 500.
Designed for different production requirements, both models focus on improving motion control, extrusion efficiency, and printing reliability. The FDM 1000Pro is engineered for large-format industrial printing, while the FDM 500 offers high-speed performance for prototyping, functional parts, and small-batch production.
With a build volume of 1000 × 1000 × 1000 mm, the Kings FDM 1000Pro is designed to produce large industrial components, functional prototypes, tooling, and other oversized parts. Its latest upgrades focus on control system performance, motion precision, extrusion efficiency, and printing reliability.

The FDM 1000Pro features a newly developed industrial control system exclusive to Kings, upgraded from conventional consumer-grade FDM control systems. With bus control cycles as fast as 125 μs and motion control algorithms derived from CNC applications, the system is designed to improve motion coordination, printing stability, and reliability during extended operation.
Customer benefits: More consistent printing performance, improved motion control, and greater confidence in continuous production.
The upgraded full-servo motion system drives the X, Y, and Z axes with precise motion control. Compared with conventional stepper-based systems, servo-driven motion offers improved positioning control and more reliable movement under demanding operating conditions.
The system also incorporates absolute position memory, enabling the printer to retain axis position information after a power interruption and resume printing without repeating the full homing process.
Customer benefits: More precise motion, reduced recovery time after interruptions, and improved operational convenience.
The FDM 1000Pro features a redesigned extruder paired with a high-performance hotend to improve heating efficiency and material throughput. This upgrade helps accelerate the printing of large parts, where extrusion performance can significantly influence total production time.
In an internal comparison using the same part, printing time was reduced from 106 hours on the original FDM 1000 to approximately 60 hours on the FDM 1000Pro.
Customer benefits: Shorter production cycles, improved equipment utilization, and greater efficiency when manufacturing large components.
Large-format printing requires accurate build-surface calibration across an extensive platform. The FDM 1000Pro uses non-contact laser auto-leveling with a stated detection accuracy of 0.03 mm, scanning 100 points across the build area in approximately five minutes.
Because the system measures the platform without physical contact, it also reduces the risk of damaging the build surface during leveling.
Customer benefits: Faster setup, more accurate platform calibration, and more consistent first-layer performance.
The FDM 1000Pro uses a 10 mm metal build platform designed to provide a stable foundation for large-format printing. The rigid platform helps support substantial printed parts and maintain a reliable printing surface throughout the build process.
Customer benefits: Improved platform stability and dependable support for large industrial components.
The Kings FDM 500 is designed for users who need a balance of high-speed printing, reliable motion control, and practical production capability. With a 500 × 500 × 500 mm build volume and printing speeds of up to 600 mm/s, it supports rapid prototyping, functional part production, engineering validation, and small-batch manufacturing.
Compared with the FDM 5060, the FDM 500 incorporates several mechanical and functional upgrades designed to improve motion performance, first-layer consistency, and ease of maintenance.

The FDM 500 combines a CoreXY motion architecture with dual closed-loop motors. CoreXY coordinates the movement of the X and Y axes to enable fast printhead motion, while closed-loop control helps reduce the risk of missed steps.
Together, these features support high-speed printing while maintaining controlled, consistent movement.
Customer benefits: Faster printing, more efficient motion, and improved reliability during demanding print jobs.
Unlike the FDM 5060 configuration, which uses a linear guide on the X-axis and a shaft on the Y-axis, the FDM 500 uses linear guides on both axes. This upgraded arrangement provides more consistent mechanical support for printhead movement.
Customer benefits: Improved motion stability and more reliable performance during high-speed printing.
The FDM 500 features a Z-axis structure with four lead screws and four linear shafts, arranged in a modular installation design. This configuration supports stable platform movement and provides a practical structure for assembly and maintenance.
Customer benefits: Enhanced structural stability, coordinated Z-axis movement, and easier maintenance.
The FDM 500 uses piezoelectric contact sensing to detect the build surface. Unlike proximity-based sensing, this approach detects physical contact and avoids temperature-related measurement drift associated with certain non-contact sensing methods.
Accurate surface detection helps establish a consistent first layer, which is essential for reliable print adhesion and overall print quality.
Customer benefits: More dependable first-layer calibration and reduced setup-related printing issues.
The upgraded high-flow hotend and extrusion system is designed to deliver material more efficiently, supporting the FDM 500's high-speed printing capability.
By improving material throughput, the system helps the printer maintain efficient extrusion during demanding print jobs.
Customer benefits: Improved printing efficiency and better support for high-speed production workflows.
The FDM 500 adopts a precision-profile frame instead of the welded sheet-metal chassis used on the FDM 5060. The profile-based structure provides a rigid mechanical foundation, while tempered glass and acrylic side panels complete the enclosed design.
A magnetic front cover on the printhead also provides convenient access for inspection and maintenance.
Customer benefits: Improved structural rigidity, a more accessible design, and easier routine maintenance.
Both printers are designed to help manufacturers shorten development cycles and produce functional parts in-house. Their different build volumes and motion systems make them suitable for a range of applications.
- Produce functional prototypes, equipment components, ducts, housings, and custom parts for design verification and engineering testing.
- Create custom fixtures, assembly aids, positioning tools, and other manufacturing accessories to support production workflows and reduce dependence on external suppliers.
- Accelerate design iterations by producing physical prototypes for dimensional checks, fit testing, and functional evaluation before committing to more expensive manufacturing processes.
- The FDM 1000Pro is particularly suitable for oversized parts that benefit from its 1000 mm cubic build volume, while the FDM 500 is well suited to medium-to-large components requiring rapid turnaround.
- Both machines can support low-volume manufacturing of suitable thermoplastic parts, helping businesses respond to customized requirements and changing production demands.
- Material selection, part geometry, print orientation, and application requirements should be evaluated to determine the most suitable configuration for each project.
